If marijuana gets legalized in Mexico I'm expecting the music scene will do very well along the beaches.

Escape from Capitol Hill (new film by John Carpenter)

Post by bathyscaaf » Sun Apr 30, 2006 8:39 pm

Same here - Captitol Hill and all. I've looked into it in a lazy sort of way. My friend Nat escaped from Capitol Hill to London, though she's doing it via marriage (her 1st fake marriage fell through, though). Going to visit in July.
Was thinking more about Montreal or Vancouver, though.

My cousin -- France, through legit marriage. She was doing the Visa thing for many years, though. The pisser for her was that to renew her Visa for France she had to actually fly back to the States and re-apply in person at the US French embassy. She always got it, though -- professional artist (painter), maybe that makes a difference. Gotta keep up that arty ex-pat image.

My old friend John is a permanent resident of France -- he worked for a Swedish IT company in Paris. When they decided to pull out of France he started his own company and just kept the old clients. Not sure how long the staus change took, but he has only been there since 2000 (I just heard this from another old friend who just moved here and haven't talked to him for years, so I can't really ask for a job).

Your first move might be moving off Captitol Hill, though. Getting away from the drunkies and junkies might help (plus there's something about it that feels like living in the playground of Seattle, and not in a good way).

If overseas seems to daunting in the short term, try New York! A friend just moved there and loves the hell out of it. Says the people are different. If you ask someone to do a project they either actually say no, or they actually do it. And other stuff. Yep.

Some very interesting comments folks, Im in a similiar unhappy position in Dublin, Ireland. Theres no shortage of great electronic gigs to go too here, but i have been looking accross the water at other european cities, to maybe move to on a trial basis. London, Berlin....my dyslexic B-12 depleted/ short concentration brain would be too slow to learn spanish!
