yes your right. I did not think that it was a copy of the 1176 i was just looking at it in a general sence. I have been playing with it on drum tracks and the results are pretty sweet. I have decided to download the Blue Tubes Bundle and see how they (eq+comp) sound. I am a little suprised at how good they sound to be honest.Tarekith wrote:Sorry, but isn't that Nomad comp based on the Fairchil, not the 1176? Considering my UAD is on ebay now, these Nomad plus interest me greatly!

Yeah, Sonalkis is currently tops on my list for replacing the UAD. URS sounds great, but I hate dongles, especially on a laptop.lola wrote:

But hypothetical (not that i promote illegal software), if there was a dongle emu for it, would it be illegal to use that instead the dongle version even if u bought the legit package?

All I know is that I purchased the UAD-1 pack with the 500 US dollars to choose which plugs to get and nothing, I mean NOTHING compares to the plate 140. I have looked at tons of reverbs, free, purchase, what have you and that is probably high on the list of plugins most used.
The fairchild is also amazing at phase situations and for beefing up various drum loops and I get way more use out of my plugs since it is using it's processor to deal with it.
Basically the UAD-1 card was the best purchase I made in a long time for my DAW. You won't be disappointed. I used it to subtley master a friend's record and he was very happy with the results. His record sounded much, much better.
I hope they release the card for firewire or usb. It has now become a major deal for my PC DAW. Now all I want is to have that same cpu load bearing for my macbook pro.

It "should" be fine, hard to say with individual systems though. Unlike regular plug ins, you can return it if it doesn't work though

Thanks Tarekith! I also have the Waves Diamond package but i only use very little plugs like the L2 Ultramaximizer, REQ Eq's, the C4 Multiband Compressor or the C1 Compressors and sometimes the Maxx Bass plugs. It does make a difference when I mix and try to master, however I m still not satisfied sometimes espeicially the Mutliband Comp.
I'm still trying a way to make my sound BIG, Loud, and Clear, and I heard the Pultec EQ is good for that. However my concern is to not spend so much money for just a few plugs in the UAD package

What scares me is the relatively old DSP on that card.
Sure it has great plugins. But how many of them can you run simultaneously?
The LiquidMix, on the other hand, has plenty of juice...
What should I get?

Studio Electronics ATC1, Access Virus TI, Roland TR-8, Mackie Onyx 1220i, Novation SL mk2, Midisport4*4 AE / amd ryzen 1600x, 16gb DDR4, windows10 64bits

Yes.ableton lover wrote:I have been thinking about getting the UAD plugs as well. But I have a question, Can I have it running at the sametime even though I have a M-Audio PCI Audiophile 192 card?. I have 4 more PCI slots. Will everything work together?
I use my 1010 with my PC setup and it uses a PCI slot. It doesn't change the performance of your or anyone's card that is a PCI slot to the best of my knowledge. I've never had any added latency issues with the PCI slot. In fact I get better performance wth the UAD card as it handles the effect plugins better than the CPU from my motherboard, so my CPU can deal with midi and audio level changes.
My setup is a P4 2.6 HT 2G of Ram and a USB 7200 rpm Lacie drive and also running a video card AGP slot. Since adding the UAD card I noticed a better performance in the mixdown stage.
Basically UAD = awesomeness.
thanks for the reponses guys.
hmm, decisisions, decisions.
I know that the PCI tech is soon to be dead but i reckon i can still get about 2 years out of my PC. In that time i'm hope that they release an updated card that supports the new technology and offers some sort of cheap upgrade type offer.
Still leaning towards the purchase over the likes of sonalksis. voxengo, or any other dsp/firewire/<insert new tech here > type solution.
