How to open songs?
Hi all,
i have a small question. What is the best way to open different songs one after the other, in live in a fast and uncomplicated way. My problems are: After i player a song and like to open the next (in a live situation) live askes "save?". Then i have to search my next file i like to open... thats all to complicated for a live situation. Is there a good way to open songs (like a playlist) without using the pulldown menues or even the monitor?
Any ideas?
thanks a lot

thanks,
i thought about that... but i have different mic setups, routings... etc, etc. i would have to change the record buttons, the presets of the vsts and of the life synths to get the new song playing right (im talking of a real band setup not a dj setup). isnt there a smart way of opening a new file?

not really no.... the only thing I do is have another program running in the background that you can use for in between song stuff while your new set loads. even quicktime works for that. or get a tape player and push play every time you want to load a new set.
sounds kinda cheesey but it does the trick/keeps the sounds happening continuously

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

oh yeah I've done the 2 computers thing but my mac is tough enough and my old pc lappy can hardly handly anything (it needs to be reformated)
but that definetly gets the job done well. only problem is you have to get 2 external sound devices with low latency and then you can slap the spacebar over and over till you think it's perfectly in sync. cause you won't be able to midi sync them AND open song after song.

hmm, not the hit at all
seems there is no smart solution to this. makes me wonder... live seemed to be made for things like this. am i the only one playing whole songs and not a dj set on stage? a "live list" with shortcuts to different songs would be great.
maybe an improvement worth thinking about.

just consider the fact that you may be dismissing the concept too quickly.
granted, it's not ideal, but you could have probably hundreds of scenes and tracks if you needed to, with each song having it's own tracks and scenes...
or some people use a system where they have X number of tracks which cover all the different possibilities that their songs might contain - e.g. 5 tracks for drums - 2 loops, 1 kick, 1 snare, 1 hat (or whatever), 2 tracks bass, etc etc.
and then put similar components of each song into those tracks.
