Live 3 on Mac

Post by Stefano » Thu Nov 06, 2003 8:42 pm

Hi everybody,

I still have some bugs as I use Live 3:evil: , and I maybe intend to buy a Mac.

So this is my question. As I read the Live 3 Demo Session on my PC (Athlon 2400, 512 RAm), the cpu gets busy on 10-14 %. How powerfull should be a Mac cpu in order to get busy the same way with the same session? What kind of Mac is enough to make music with Liven and one or two other professional programs at the same time without that there are bugs? I've heard that a G4 is better than a G3 for making music :?: Is it true? Is there just a power difference between both? Or is there a compatibility problem with music programs?

See you soon

A G4 Mac is definately better than a G3...no question about it.
Thats for performance and compatability.
G3 Mac are very old now.
But....in case you haven't heard...the latest Macs are G5 Stefano.

To get similar performance on a Mac as a 2.4 Athlon you will need the best Mac you can afford really !!

Perhaps you should sort out the bugs you have on your PC and stay with what you have.

i'm using a dual g5 and this machine simply kicks butt. the g5 is about 4x faster than the latest powerbook (17" G4 1,33 mhz). i've ran live before on a PC (athlon 2400 & dual athlon mp 1600) cuz i was not satisfied with the performance on my g4. well, the g5 is really fast - way faster than those pcs i had - so its time to kick them ;o)

g3, g4, g5, powermac, powerbook, imac, emac, ibook - those are all macs, produced by apple.
the "g" is actually the generation. the g5 is the latest model. the g4 is "out" already, but its still used in the latest powerbooks because the g5 is not suitable for portable devices yet (getting to hot, too big).
