Impulse Vs Simpler

Hi

Hoping someone can explain this to me as I'm pretty new to the use of midi instruments.

OK I have a sub-bass sample that I want to use in a track. When i load this and play it through Impulse it works fine, however when loaded into Simpler it just doesn't sound right.

I've played around with the filters, amp etc etc but it still sounds completley different to the original wav file and what Impulse plays it like.

Why - I really don't understand....it's gonna be something so simple I know it but just can't make it out!!!!

Simpler adjust the pitch of the sample accordin to what note you play. So you actually can play a melody and stuff.

To do that, it assumes than any sample you drop in it is tuned to C3 (I think?). So if you trigger it with a C3, it should sound pretty normal. Of course you might have to play around with envelopes etc.

it might be (I am not in front of my DAW to test it) something like:

-turn the loop switch off in simpler, so it will play once like in impulse (if looping is also off in Impulse) and the time between "midi note on" and "midi note off" wont matter.
-hit the note "middle c" in simpler, then the sample should not be transposed from its original pitch


If there are filters or looping etc acting on the sample in Impulse, you will have a hard time trying to match it with simpler. To get around this, you could resample the output from Impulse and drag the .wav file into the Simpler sample window, then play the note flat (without effects, middle C).

Then again, I could be wrong...
