more b-more sounds like much fun. Everyone at the ottobar was very cool.
Maybe another 'eclectic electric' night like last time for the next time around, and then after that introduce the idea of different 'genre nights'.
The advantage to focusing on a genre is that people get to hear what they are most keen on and people in that style can build an audience, the disadvantage is the risk of splitting the attendance a little too thin.

Sorry sorry for the big delay, I have been busy procrastinating.
BUT
I am trying to get the next date now. I am shooting for Sat May 20 or sometime after I get back from vacation after June 9. These performances will be 6-10 pm in the upstairs area.
We need to think about how to approach this. One of the guys I was talking with (from "the scene") suggested getting a core group of guys that work together and giving it a name, sort of like the Tax-lo (Taxidermy Lodge) collective do it. The core should be stylistically similar in order to build a following.
Granted, this is not the "Ableton users" vision that initiated the idea, but that idea MAY not work inBmore the way it did in DC.
Maybe the thing to do is a mess of us the first time around, then start worrying about splitting up into stylistic groups?
Or maybe I am thinking too much.
I will keep you up to speed on dates, input is great.

I think that's freakin crazy.D K wrote:pulsoc, how about this....i volunteer to handle bass sounds for a drum n' bass/dub/breaks themed night.
get someone on atmospherics, and 2-3 on beats/mixing....
what do you think?
But cool.
How would we sync?
Fuck it, let's do it. I would submit we rehearse first.
Still waiting to hear from my guy.
ooh, If this is going to be a jam, I would like to bring my guitar and my laptop. For sync, does everyone interested have a midi interface?pulsoc wrote:I would submit we rehearse first.)

rehearsal... well, I'd have to say if we make it a requirement this is unlikely to ever happen due to logistics... *but* the idea is that we have some shared understanding of 'known material', or it sounds like doodie, right?
So, how about someone put together a framework liveset-- it includes some beats, or some something you like. D K does kind of what he intends for bass on it and whatever else, pass it to me I do some guitar on it and whatever else, someone else does some something else-- two tracks apiece. When we perform it, we can embellish that version.

I third that thought, I've done lots of work with another and even two other laptops running live, and unless you have a wretched reaction time, or clock problems, it should be fine, and more musical to trigger by beatmaching.
This sounds like fun.
P,S. great freakin show the other night guys, this has really been inspiring.
