but I changed my focusrite saffire and bought a MOTU TRAVELER!!
hi elec!
i changed the saffire because it was a real nightmare (with my ibook), I installed v.2 of drivers but still had many problems "lost communication" using logic and reason.
now maybe many people will say that saffire is good and they have no problems, but that's my story.
now i'm very happy with my traveler and i have not any problem.
very good quality in recording and rock solid drivers.

yeah,my friend was sayin that the converters in motu stuff are all crap.is this really true.he loves his rme though.i have a motu 828 that i will sell you for 250.00.this way i can get the rmeKU wrote:but the D/A does sound cheap - not nearly as good as RME, or even the Mackie 400F.eyeknow wrote:motu traveler......plug it in, set it up.........forget about it...........
Man, if I was writing about an rme or other then others would be saying "oh, but the motu stuff has a better (insert here)"
I dunno......your probably right. All I know is that the motu ...for whatever reason...sounds allot better than other soundcards I've used.....which may not be saying much.
BTW, the quote is about the ease of use and how you "forget" it's there since it just works.

i just re-joined the ranks of motu users with an ultralite.
it sounds great, good bass.... an 828 was my original, it was rock-solid too...
all the others were crap in comparison for the dough...(edirol fa101, echo cards, digi002, a couple keyboard/interfaces among others).
the rme should sound better, it's a considerably more expensive item...
the motu sounds as good as i could hope for the money, and doubling as a standalone mixer is actually going to be a really useful bonus for me....

That's my thing......the others were too expensive. It's like this....
imac
traveler
....I do have an icontrol
keyboard, and a midi controller
mouse....
that is all my hardware.....that's it.
One plug in, since everything is bus powered........and I'm done
If money was not an object......I'd have gotten an apogee/rosetta

It has been mentioned here befoe, but the cats at black lion audio in Chicago can do a modification several motu interfaces that improves the analog stages considerably. According to them, motu uses the same converters as apogee and rme—it's the analog stages that keep it from sounding as good.
I had the mod done on my traveler, and I can mos def hear a difference. He now also can upgrade the clock, which really puts the motu interfaces on par with apogee stuff. I'll be getting that one done too as soon as they have an open date.
If you just can't stand the sound of the motu boxes, you may wanna give these guys a look.
