Live and Final Scratch

Post by luke_l » Sun May 07, 2006 5:33 pm

I'm thinking about getting Stanton's Final Scratch 2 as my decks have become pretty redundant since buying Live. Then I started thinking about how to link the two together....

Can anyone who's done this share how they use it and how well the two systems actually work together.

Also... is Final Scratch the best way to go as there's a few alternatives out there.

DO NOT GO with Finalscratch...Its negative record is impressive.

1. the guy supporting it -Richie Hawtin- went to Serato SSL
2. the guy doing the FS2 Video - DJ Salomon - went to Serato SSL

the list is pretty endless but the defecting of these two is serious and there is no momey into turning a DJ over to Serato, I work with them a bit and they do NOT pay anybody!

I myself have SSL since over a year and it never ever crashed, its a dream.

p.s. btw I was also to buy FS2 -I like the interface a lot better- but the retailer I went to told me that of around 20 FS2 he sold over 15 came back.

Final Scratch 2 is phasing out, everyone is swapping their FS for SSL. I you want to get FS you should be able to get it cheap on ebay from somebody switching to SSL :)

i know many people (me included) are running FS 2 without any problems.
yeah i can confirm: the FS2 audio interface is better than Serato one.
also i like much more the Traktor FS gui than SSL one.
anyway i understand people who are skeptic about Stanton products and support...

plethora of gigs using FS2 w/traktor dj studio 3. Never a problem or crash. SSL just lacks features compared to TDJS 3.
A bunch of gear, cords, and a computer...

Thanks for the tips. Had a look round and think I'll go for Serato. No midi so I guess that rules out using it with Live for the moment. Ms Pinky looks like a good option but there seems to be issues finding decent hardware - prove me wrong someone! However, ASIO drivers should soon be out for SSL apparently so it'll work with Ms Pinky. Then there's some decent possibilities, especially with the Pinky Pluggo and MAX/MSP expandability...

there is no doubt about FS2 being able to run on well preserved computerts, but in over 60%-70% of the cases the software won't run flawlessy and SSL runs even on computers thats may have problems with Word or Adobe Acrobat.

Keep that in mind please and yes, I had several gigs with FS2 and every single time I had an issue, maybe not a crash but definitely sound issues.
