Ableton's support just answer me to upgrade from 8.6 to 9 or install Carbonlib in my system folder....
and Voila. That's all.

I know what everybody is gonna think.
One more retrograd newbie on a macintosh.
My mac was perfecly stable with only some 192 litttle Mb of ram and now i have to upgrade everything....

loggerman, you can look on the bright side :-)

The good thing about it is that LIVE is one of the few audio programs that runs under mac os x.

You have never experienced stability like you will in os x.Other things live and os x are good for:

-You don't have to muck around with extensions to get optimal performance and stability - no more enabling and restarting to get live running the best

-You can run mulltiple versions of apps, like live, so if you manage to crash one in a live performance you can just switch to the other one.

-MIDI and audio is a million times better, you can route MIDI easily, ( I downloaded an app called MIDI patchbay which lets me merge two midi inputs so that I can use the knobs on my us-428 plus my keyboard for triggering/ twiddling)

-ASIO devices can be used by multiple applications, without the need for rewire compatibilty. I use LIVE and melodyne (celemony.com) at the same time, I could not do that in OS 9, even.

-Latency is the best (lowest) of any system, including Linux in it's current state. I have mine set to 2 ms

Cubase and all the rest aren't here yet, but the will be within a few months. 10.2 will also have a bunch of audio improvements, routing options etc.

Bassically it will be worth you while to update (add RAM?) to an X compatible. I would be scared performing in anything less than X for fear of a crash.
