I may be completely wrong....but here's the gist of it,
i think ram is useful for live so you can have samples play directly from ram, instead of from the hd which would take up cpu etc...
but for reaktor & live combo, i think its cpu that makes the big difference...
and from what I gather, both live AND reaktor are pigs with respect operating on the g4 ibooks.....so I dont think extra ram will make too much of a difference in that respect....
just guessing...I know very little about the mac,
have you tweaked your powerbook for running audio applications ? ...i believe osxaudio.com has a list of tweaks you can do to improve performance. things like turning off dashboard and spotlight, etc...
still, if you do alot of rendering and just use samples/clips within live, then the ram should make a markable improvement....right mac people ?

yeah, what i heard also was that if i am more sample based, it would make more difference but not so much for vsti.
i did tried turning off dashboard etc.
(my mac is 1.5 GHz powerbook G4 with now 1G ram, using Live with mostly reaktor, arturia sometimes, and operator for vsti.)
thankx for your info-
