So you mean - "how do I install a plugin"...

If it doesn't have an installer, the file (blablaplug.dll) goes into your VSTplugins folder. Probably something like C:\program\vstplugins.., On PC that is. Mac? I don't have a clue!

Then it'll show up in Live's browser.

Mikael

OSX 10.4.3

.dmg file with an installer.
I have installed it.
I just don't know where to look in the Live5 Browser.

In the plug-ins folder?

Now would be the time to grab that manual, go to the lou, sit down, have a nice long sitting... Reviewing the parts that you don't get yet.

Mikael

The plugin shows a mac hardrive icon on my desktop. I opened the icon.
A folder has 2 other folders inside it.

So technically I believe I installed it from the desktop.

I don't know.

You need to go into the prefences box and set the folder you want Live to read your VSTs from. You should then see Live scan them in along the bottom of the screen.

When I got Live I tried to scan the folder I had previously been using for Cubase - but I had literally hundreds of freebies in there (some I'd never used, downloading became a bit of compulsive thing), and the scan just crashed out - Live obviously didn't like some of them.

I created a new sub-folder in the Live folder called VSTs and copied the ones I really wanted accross. When I scanned this folder it worked a treat (there is about 30 in there).

When you want to use them - yeah, just drag them in like you would a Live effect.
