synch live with a numark cd player?
you mean numark with live (soundcard isnt important)...
i figured out how you can sync one channel, since you can bend only one channel at a time in live...
say players are using 2 of your mixers channels and live one (or more...)
1 - sync player to ableton:
simple, just as you would mix two players... cue, match, sync, mix....
2 - sync ableton to player
you have to put QUANTISATION on live to NONE. everytime you press play and then stop you need to press "back to arrangement" to reset lives timing in bars (this is needed if you want to continue playing next track after that in live)... maybe you dont need to do this, im not sure yet
anyway, again you need to match tempo. youll need as high resolution as posible midi control for tempo control (you can set range to say 125-135 or something to get it more detailed)
for "pitch bending" you will use "clip nudge" on NONE quantisation. it moves clips playing marker a bit forward/back. its not audiable, just press few times if you need to move more (use midi controls, lot easier than keyboard)... if you've missed hard then it gets complicated... this is something i havent mastered yet (you can put it to some low level quantisation like 1/32 or 1/24 push, then turn back to none to fine match... this requires a bit of skill, but it basically works...)
3 - continue playing in ableton after
if you want to mix next track from ableton after mixed from player to ableton, you just press REVERT TO ARANGEMENT button after turning quantisation to say 1 bar. it will sync to lives timing and you can continue mixing in live as usual...
when mixing from players to live, you can start bending on player when live track overtakes in the mix (i find this easier because players bending controls are easier to use
hope i helped
