How to install & load a plug in MAC OSX

After reading the manual, I am still confused on how to install and load a custom plug in for OSX.

Step by step instructions. Please?

Drag and drop the plug-in to your Library/Audio/Plug-ins folder and, if it's a VST, drop it into the VST folder, if it's an AU drop it into the Components folder. That's the install.
