Plogue Bidule Just Not Working For Me...Little Help?

Post by tjwett » Thu Nov 13, 2003 4:41 am

I'm dying to get this going and I'm at a total loss. I'm running Live 3 on OS X.3 (Panther) and Plogue (tried the two most recent builds so far). I've read the Help docs, visited the FAQ site with the Tutorial and everything and I still can't get anywhere. All I want to do is Play a VSTi (say Albino for example) and ReWire it into Live. If I launch Live first and then launch Bidule I get an error during Bidule startup saying "There is already a ReWire Mixer Application Running" and it either quits or launches but without any ReWire functions. If I launch Bidule first Live runs in ReWire slave mode which is useless. Can anyone here give me a simple walkthrough to get this running? I have decent stuff to trade (no, not cracked software). Thanks for any help guys.

Have you tried launching Bidule not with the shortcut on the desktop but with the one located in your 'filebrowser'.

That did it for me in windows. Apparently there was a wrong shortcut from the desktop vs. the correct exe file [or equivalentwhat that is in Mac-speak] 8)

steps for using Bidule with Live

the correct steps are :

1) launch Live
2) important : enable at least one rewire channel for Bidule in Live
3) launch Bidule

if all goes well, you should then see a "Rewire mode" label on the Bidule splash screen.

That's just the thing, I have no option for Bidule input on any track. The only things that show up for inputs are Reason and Master Out. Perhaps Bidule is not sitting in the right place on my HD? I installed it to the Applications folder like everything else. Any ideas on how to get Live to "see" that I have Bidule on my machine?

Much Thanks.

Hey tjwett,

from what you're describing it sounds as if you didn't copy the corresponding files from Bidule into your Library folder.

In your Bidule folder, there's another folder called "to Application Support Folder", which contains two files (Plogue Bidule Engine and Plogue Bidule Engine.bundle) - these need to be copied into your /Library/Application Support/ folder (note: Not the Library folder in your user directory, but the top level one!) in order for Live to see Bidule. There should also be a file called "README_REWIRE.txt" in your Bidule folder describing this.

Hope this did the trick!
Cheers,
Martin

tjwett -

blacklightmartin has got it right.

i had the same problem when i first installed bidule on my g4. in my haste to start jamming with absynth into live, i didn't bother to check the readme file and neglected to

Mac: Copy
"Plogue Bidule Engine" and
"Plogue Bidule Engine.bundle"
(in the "to Application Support Folder" folder)
into /Library/Application Support/

this should solve the problem, as well as following the general steps above outlined by benjamin above.

hope this does the trick for you!
