good site to download triphop,downtempo stuff

some of the hottest downtempo stuff i've heard lately is called "dubstep". imagine DnB slowed down to about 70bpm, but still some intensity that makes it FEEL faster.

this dude at myspace.com/subtrac has a bunch of recent DJ mixes on his site,
but these are the best ones to my ears:

-Deadlights revisited - cool mix, some tracks at the end by a dude
called Toasty Boy are my faves

Burial, again the ones at the end, i believe a track called "Distant
Light" is AMAZING -

Toasty is ILL. the track "Angel" has basically defined the genre for me.
cool to note that he actually does some straight-upish electro stuff. found him at bleep.com, karmadownloads.com and beatport.com - some under the name Toastyboy - with various bpm stuff.

not so much triphop (although there is some), but more downtempo - www.versionist.com

Thousands of great tracks for free download, streaming radio as well.

The comment about dubstep being dnb slowed down to 70bpm...hehe to me that's just dub, i still reckon dubstep is just dub but seemingly repackaged for the Step people.

hah - good call. i guess DnB is just sped up dub! chicken or egg?

Its funny, I used to write drum & bass, fairly jazzy styles, and I went to a mate's house & played it to him. He said "sounds like dub to me" and took the tempo down from 180 to 65 & it was instantly dub! Never went back to dnb after that.

found it great to have the space to do more.

you got any good names of dubstep artists? Ive heard some Pole but its not what ive heard on the radio (not sure how i got his name cos he seems to do ambient glitch dub whereas the dubstep ive heard is kind of big beaty).

i'm starting to feel that way... i have a guilty pleasure of checking out DnB mixes from time to time, but inevitably it gets too hyper and cheesy at some point. leaving room for crazy ambiences is something these dub guys seem to do better.

just the names i suggested, like Toasty, Burial (i have GOT to find their new CD somehow) Distance and Vex'd are good. just give those dj mixes on that page i posted a listen, most of the tracklists are on there too.

one thing I found out is that some of these guys pick it up to 130 bpm (or doubled 65 or whatever) for very dancefloor-ish stuff that still has a way cooler groove than any house i've heard. me likin'!

im listening to the deadlights revisted stuff now. pretty cool.

on a nomenclature tip though i think this stuff and dnb in general is a little more 'techie' sounding than i usually associate with dub. like theres not much ragga stylings in this mix, but there are all kinds of sci-fi squaks and reesish basses.

not that it makes a lick of difference at the end of the day....

also continuing on the self-promotion tip (humbly, of course) i am about to release a full album, THE RURAL SEQUENCE (my first real quality album i think) full of acid jazz, downtempo, breakish kinds of things. most of the tracks are below the 115bpm mark and include lots of live vintage keyboards like hammond, rhodes, mellotrons and so forth. here are some samples that may fit your request:
