Reason Into Live

Post by scott » Thu Nov 13, 2003 7:21 pm

Hello,

I've been using Live for about a year now, but still something is evading me. What is the correct method to cut perfect loops from Reason into Live? Say I have an 8 bar kick/snare pattern that I have running into Live channel 1 + some insert effects. I set channel 2 to Master Out and solo channel 1. In both Session and Arranger, there is extra audio in my clip, even though I set the punch in markers to delineate the 8 bar loop. Also, as a related question, how do I resample Live's Master Out into perfectly cut loops? I think I'm missing something obvious. I shouldn't have to trim the loops in Wavelab.

As penance for asking this question, I offer 2 Live sets to you: http://www.glaive.org/music.html

Peace,
Scott

i wish someone with the answer to your question would post, this would be really useful info. i find myself exporting loops from reason which is tedious.. and if resampling live into a perfect loop could be easy ....those of us who don't know how could do alot more creatively.

wouldn't it work if you did your reason rewire thing in the arranger view.
set your rewire channels into live, and then set what ever live track you want to record on to record the master out, then set your punch in punch out settings and press play/ record.

set in the prefs in live defaults launch mode to REPEAT then in the live session view set the quantise to 8bars, then arm the reason track and record it! By far the best way as as soon as it's recorded live kicks in and starts looping it in time, so if you take off the monitor and record arm buttoms you hear the loop you just recorded looping

Oh, my, this is rocking my world.

I can't wait to start cutting bass loops onstage using this technique. And rendering from Reason is going to be much faster.

You rock, guest!

 I can't believe it--I just independently discovered this work flow
last week--it really opened up live to me--and given me a great way to get
at my refill rex library--
