And all of your software worked too? No delays with getting stuFf to run on your new Mac? You're kidding, right?

No I'm not. It all works/worked fine.

It's understandable that the move to intel is going to be a little rocky for early adopters but for powerpc machines it's all pretty much solid from my experience.

Please, the move onto OSX was just as bad, as was every other move that Apple has made, forcing their users to wait while the software caught up instead of organising this beforehand. Every other format, including games consoles, has software ready for when a new system is released. I'm sure most program suppliers would get with the program if they were given a heads up, it's Apple that are at fault.

Same here. No problems ever. Because I don't jump early and I research the apps I want to use...

BTW, since when have PCs ever been trouble free. I hear about a new Windows security gap every week. I deal with folks on the PC side that are constantly dealing with software bugs/issues.

It definitely works both ways, but can be easy for both too, if you know what you are doing and are informed by smart people.

I guess you were right, tho. I WAS beta testing Photoshop and Illustrator on my Mac for about 6 years before they released it to PC...
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

There was a small wait for OSX stuff at the time but that's understandable. Games consoles are compeltely different kettle of fish to computers, totally different market dynamic and a much bigger market (so more of a financial incentive for quick ports).

You can blame apple for something I don't see as a problem. It's up to you.

If there's no security gaps, PC users could feel out of their comfort zone. They love the thrill of the virus fight.

for the people bitching that Apple always pulls this "their always porting shit, changing stuff, nothing old works" blah blah

shut the fuck up. plain and simple. if you dont like it, move to windows. microsoft spends bulttloads of time making sure their horrible and anchient code is fully backwards compatible. be it because their too lazy to truly innovate, maybe they dont care to? or maybe they dont have the luxury of having a smaller and more faithful market share willing to go through the transitions in order to have better products.

for that reason they will be always stuck behind true innovators. look at vista, i wonder when ya'll will finally get your hands on it? and when you do how far behidn will it already be?

anyways, rosetta actually has a lot of apps running pretty damn good. the entire microsoft office runs flawlessly. as well as many other apps... music apps are harder to get to run under rosetta for obvious reasons.

Apple store clerks are a little bit brighter than most you'll find in say Comp USA. still most of them wouldn't know half of what people in the community would.

Now, that joke aside, let me tell you of my very expensive "beta testing" macintel upgrade.......

I decided to take advice and go native........macintel/logicpro/motu. If something else runs on the system, fine, but no more....ah hem...."compatibility issues"

So after 3 months of owning the system???????

It's a GO!!!!

a. Not too bad in stability. Logic does crash more than I'd like.......but it saves the crash files......so it's not the end of the world.

b. Logic is VERY VERY VERY VERY deep and has taken allot of my time!!!

c. The "macintel" is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO stable.........jeeeeezzzeee, after windows, it's so comfy :) (no, I don't dislike windows, it's just a preference)

BTW, live runs pretty darn well. As does RMX and UBERSHALL electric bass........and the wave arts suite...........KICK ASS!

Other than a being able to beta test ( and get some goodies ) since macintel is new, I don't FEEL like a beta tester.........I feel very comfortable with this system.

Ok.......I probably have lost my focus......I'll elaborate further depending on questions.......

yes it is. you will discover earlier or later what you spend the time for.

sorry can't help myself, but using live more and more, shows that i will never get rid of logic, impossible.

live is only the freakin' bomb for a certain way of use, but has to many restrictions in other areas. and 6 will just scratch the surface of what i am talking about. one example is logics enviroment, there is nothing like it in any of the other audio apps.

enough, i love live, for what it is!.
