I have a 1.33 ghz G4 Powerbook with OS 10.4.6 running live 5.2 that I have up until now only used to sequence external gear.
But I have grown to like impulse so much I wanted to be able to put all of my sounds together so I bought a Multimix Firewire mixer only to find out that it did not function with my mac and live.
I am going to return it because I decided that it either is not compatible with my setup (although i do not see how that is possible) or because the one I got was a lemon.
Should I try another one or is their something someone can reccomend that they know will function with my setup.
When I talked to ableton they said they had another person recently contact them claiming they had the same issue.

fwiw dude, I use a firewire multimix a couple times a month to record a live gig, and it works great for me with Live 5. However, to get the latest drivers, I had to have an Alesis tech support dude email them to me—they wouldn't download correctly from their site.
Motu audio interfaces are very, very nice. Solid, stable, sound good, and cheaper than some of the higher end interfaces you'll find out there. I've owned one since they came out with the original 828, and I've never had one go belly up on me.
Having said that, there has been much discussion on this forum regarding interfaces. Do a search, and you can find out all you wanna know about the pluses and minuses of different ones.

With a Mac so under powered as that watch when using Tiger with Firewire audio i/O's s there is a problem with OSX kicking the Core audio driver when the system runs out of resources. Panther is the way to go for the ageing Mac
