Mixer Volume Draw mode

Post by skyworm » Thu May 18, 2006 1:26 pm

It seems that after I have "drawn in" my specific volume levels in an audio track in the session viewer.

I still wish to bring the level down now to the entire track. Everytime I bring the level down in the session editor, it works and I save it.
It has done what I told it to do.

I then closed the session, reopened Live 5.0.2 and the edits I have made default back to my orignal un-edited corrections. Help.

since you say you are doing this in session view, i'm going to assume that you're changing the volume within the clip vew at the bottom of the screen.

try using the 'save' button in the clip settings area

i'm not convinced that we're on the same page yet, but...

there are several different places which all combine to define the volume of a clip. you've got the level the clip is recorded at, the gain setting for the clip, the volume envelope on the clip, the track fader, etc. etc.

i feel that if you open the SAME set which contains the SAME clip, that your changes should have still been there - but still i thought it was worth suggesting that you try that 'save' button in case i was not understanding you correctly.

the save button in the clip settings will save all the parameters which are specific to that clip - this is what is contained in the .asd file type. the .als file type, or "live set" would save the clip settings for the ONE SET on which you were working.

by clicking the 'save' button in the clip view, you are telling Live to use these settings every time you drag this clip into a new set.

i don't know how much sense i'm making

Thanks again Lj.

Increasing the clips volume in the clip mode at the bottom of the page that shows the wave, I raised or lowered the triangle volume control and after saving, closing the program and reopening, the changes have been saved.

THX Again

Erik
