tomperson, the new macbooks are polycarbonate, same as the previous ibooks i think. the white is shiny finish, and the black has a matte finish. the build is just as good, just not as cool (to some people). the macbook pros are still aluminum.
the black matte finish strikes me as a bad idea...wont the oils from your hands leave stains where your palms rest?

How come?
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

hmmf, I'm in the apple store now and these babies look nice.
In Feb. I was thinking about plunking down for a macbook pro in the fall, but these macbooks are jsut fine for audio work. I'm going for it...
I just wish the black ones didn't cost an extra $150...weird.
I might just go for the white one. Whatever...
Oh and yes...I'm wiping my hands on it and it gets dirty. But meh...
I just wanna save a bit of cash so I'm going for the white one.
ps anyone have any questions about the mac books? I can mess around with it and let ya know what ya wanna know...

YES. Went to the Applestore and fillally got my hands on one - and left my handprints all over it.
The Glossy screen looked nice but glare was BAD.
They feel nice and heavy (to me that is a good thing) and thier size was perfect.
The keyboard was the shit. I hope the Pros get the same keyboard soon.
15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

Yes! I love the new keyboard. I don't know if it's a mental thing because it looks cooler, but it felt really nice. I like it a lot better.

went to store myself today and checked htem out again.
i dont know if i like the keyboard, i mean they seem to be better quality or at least more durable than the ones on the PRo line but i dont know if i like the feel.
the glossy screen is BLAH, fuck i hope they never transfer this over to the pro line (i know its an option) . i cant stand the glare or even the look to be honest.
i love the magnetic latch, wish the pro line had that.

I've gigged just using the output from my powerbook (when my USB external card wasn't about), sound quality and latency is pretty good. I see no reason why the macbook shouldn't be of similar quality.

No, it's the same finish they use for the iPod nano's.
