2.if you put the clip in re-pitch mode, tis just like a turntable. you can beat match all day with that too.

3.if there is a blanket over your speakers then something is wrong. fix it.

4.there are in fact, various settings(!) in each of the different clip modes. sometimes your track will require(!) you to experiment with teh settings to improve the sound.

5."and that is the folly of man" is a allusion to the fact that it indeed sounds better with warp turned off, yet you cant really use the program to beatmatch whilst it is so. irony, in a sense.

please check out some of these options and see if it improves both your quality of sound, and your quality of life.

thank you.
That's our boy! Nice!

Windows Media Player rocks for DJing, I just hate the dirty looks when the music stops inbetween tracks

Now I'm confused - I thought when you were speaking in first person it's

"That's my boy!"

i.e. that's what's I'm talking about - because the fundamental problem with that's our boy implies you have a counterpart or "other" in terms of our

And DKF says it's backwards day - yes, in Australia everythings backwards

I guess it was confusing, I was responding in affirmation to Josh since he's one of our cohorts over at www.abletonlivedj.com and what he says is usually on the money.

The second part was me trying to be clever and was for the original poster :D

Because I'm in the mood to just reply to things........

warping is an art. "sounds like shit" is the most subjective statement I can think of when you are not hearing what you want.

Now, as far as "sound quality" is concerned......live is one of the best. On my PC (since I can't do everything I want on the macintel yet) I get sound results that easily rival protools.....the only real issue is that live does not have a set of panning laws and the sends are........."combined" which is not great for certain mixing aspects......

Ok, I'm rambling useless crap...........but live is about the best for warping and sound quality... :)

Hi
In my experience Live is not to strong on making significant change in pitch and tempo on longer songs or more complex sound material (work fine for drum parts). So if you are in the producer business, you should have a look at Melodyne -www.celemony.com. This is an amazing pice of software that really got me exited. However, if DJing is you task, it may turn out too complex and expensive.
If you need to make a significant tempo or pitch shift, do it in Melodyne and do the fine tuning in Live. Melodyne works fine together with Live (and other sequencers). When that said, Live is excellent to correct timing issues on your recording with the moveable warp markers and I use it mainly for my recordings although I have Pro tools and Sonar.
Good luck!
