Ultralite Stereo Pairs

Post by DougC42182 » Sun May 21, 2006 6:34 pm

I know this is probably a stupid question because I'm assuming it's a yes. I'm getting a new Imac here in a few weeks and I'm going to get an Ultralite too since I've heard so many horror stories about the 410 on Mac's. The question is, you can use the outputs on the Ultralite as stereo pairs on more than just output 1 and 2 right? The back of it is set up a little differently than most interfaces i've seen, and CueMix looks like it is set up in mono except the first pair. Thanks for any answers, and please no flaming, I'm still new to interfaces even though I've been playing out on Live for a couple months now.

yep, you can. It is how I have my Live set up for performance.

1/2 = 3/4 output on Live (stereo pair)
3/4 = 5/6 output on Live

etc.

So then is it possible to set up 4 stereo channels off the Ultralite so I can put 4 stereo pairs into my Allen & Heath and play off that instead of MIDI? I've tried to set it up on my 410, but cannot get it to work at all (I do have all the outputs active). I've heard it's possible, but you can only use 1/2 or 3/4 for the master. Is it possible to just eliminate the master channel altogether or how would I go about doing it? Thanks.

there is a master out, but also outputs 1 - 8 as well. it should work w/o issue.

yep, actually you can have four different 'mixes' going at once to four seperate output pairs (phones, 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, main outs, or s/pdif) if needed, each with their own input mix. all controllable from the front panel while away from the computer, really a fantastic setup. phones can be set up several ways as well. this complete routing setup can be saved as a preset, of which the UltraLite can store 16 of and recall them at any time.

just got my UltraLite the other day, really digging it.

I'm considering the Ultralite myself... I can't really tell what's going on back there, though! Can I set up 4 seperate outs to go to my DJ mixer, and still have a spare out for cueing?

Yes - but I want to be able to prepare loops/audition songs in the browser while I'm playing audio on all four tracks/channels.

What I need, is 5 stereo pairs (at least!)...
