changing the current playing clip to the next below
does anyone know how can i change the current playing clip on a track to the next right below it using a shortcut on the computer keyboard or my midi controller? i did assign a letter to activate the track, but couldn`t find out how to move to the next clip without using the mouse. thanks.

maybe i'm just asking too much. my set has 12 songs, each one with from 10 to 30 clips, so there's no way for me to assign a letter for each clip. what i thought was that maybe i could buy a controller like behringer bcr2000, with 24 endless rotary knobs, so i could assing a knob for eack track, and everytme i rotate the knob to the next position (red light) the track would move to the next clip. does anyone know if it works that way? i tried using arrow down-enter, mouse clicks, keyboard short cuts, but none of these made me confortable playing live with live.
i just want to make sure that you know about the more gobal-style assignable controls. each track has an assignable button which only appears in key or midi mapping mode - it's underneath all the clip slots - which will launch the _selected_ clip in that track. so you don't need a key for each slot - just one for each track.
also in midi map mode, look at the master track in the same area (under the scenes) there are buttons which appear for scrolling up/down the scenes, and a number field to which you can assign an encoder for scrolling the scenes.
it sounds like all these will help with your situation
this is pretty much what michaelSW was saying before, i'm just elaborating a bit

the problem may be me. i know about the gobal-style assignable controls. i had letter a to play track 1 and capital A to stop track 1. i also had number 1 to move up a scene and number 2 to move down a scene. all this works. the thing is: first of all i don't use scenes, they just don't work for me. second, letter a starts playing the first clip on track 1, but when i press 2, it doesn't move to the next clip, even if i have track 1 selected. it does move to scene 2, but nothing happens. also if it did play the second clip on track 1, it would also play the second clip in all tracks, and that would be a mess for me, as i may want to play clip 18 in track 1 and clip 1 in track 2. am i clear about my condition? i guess the simple question is: how do i assign letter a to start track 1 and capital A to move down the clips on track 1 just like i did with number 2 on scenes? there must be a way of doing it. i have a print screen of my set with the assigned letters, but don't know how to post it here. don't know if it would help. thanks again.
are you wanting something like the ability to trigger slots in positions relative to the currently selected scene? (without using a mouse).

yes, sort of. if each track had the "-" "+" feature that scene has, i wouldn't even have to have the track selected. i would assign a letter on my keyboard to move down or up the clip on track 1, so it wouldn't matter if i had track 1 selected, as the short cut would be assigned. my set is this: i have 12 songs, one song in each track. the songs are cliped whenever there's an instrument change. it's minimal techno. so for exemple on track 1 i have one clip for kick drum, the second clip is for when hihat comes in, the third clip claps come in, and so on, the music is growing downward, to the bottom of the screen. so, when i'm mixing live, i use parts of let's say, four songs. so it's very hard to control with the mouse wich track is gonna stop, move to the next clip, or whatever. follow action doesn't do it cause i decide live how long each clip is gonna play. also i have to be able to read the clip names, so the 12 tracks don't fit the screen. if anyone has a tip of how i do it an easier way, please tell me. but i believe it's as simple as this: a key assigned to move down the current playing clip on an assigned track. sorry if i'm not too clear but english is not my native language. what i need is a "-" and a "+" button on the bottom of each track. thanks everyone.
you just need to be hitting the return/enter key to start the next clip.
or, based on your keyboard assignments, another 'a' hit should launch the second clip, once you've moved down the scene with the '2'
i think you're getting hung up on the definition of a scene. even if you're not using them as such, when we talk about 'selecting a scene up/down' it's just another way of saying 'move around the session grid vertically' or 'select clips in a single track'
so as you're moving up and down, yes, you're _selecting scenes_ - but that doesn't mean that you ever will necessarily _launch_ a scene. you can still just launch individual clips. and if you've assigned to the track's "master" clip launch button, then that same 'a' key will launch ANY clip on that track, just by highlighting it first.

This describes what you're looking to do (I think) using a Behringer controller:

I set this up and it works great.

Re: changing the current playing clip to the next below
Hello,
I think none of all the suggested workarounds do exactly what zepedrogollo wants to have .. neither do they what I'd like to accomplish (what I think is the same as zepedrogollo needs). Let me explain ...
For launching 'the clip after the clip that is currently playing' (next clip) regarding a specific track you shouldn't have to do more than pressing just ONE SINGLE BUTTON (per track).
That means there mustn't be the need for positioning 'the focus' (scene up/scene down) before pressing that button !
Here's an example scenario:
Track 1 plays Clip 1
Track 2 plays Clip 5
Track 3 plays Clip 9
Now I want to press a Track1-NextClip-Button, a Track2-NextClip-Button and a Track3-NextClip-Button .. AT THE SAME TIME .. resulting in this scenario:
Track 1 plays Clip 2
Track 2 plays Clip 6
Track 3 plays Clip 10
With all your described workarounds this is not possible because I had to follow this workflow:
1) Focus 2nd row
2) Press 'Play' button of Track 1
3) Focus 6th row
4) Press 'Play' button of Track 2
5) Focus 10th row
6) Press 'Play' button of Track 3
Even if the 3 newly triggered clips had a quantization of 1 Bar the time would be to short to get the actions above done.
I hope you understand what I mean! But I assume that Live isn't capable of that functionality .. otherwise you would have suggested that already
...... but nevertheless I hope it can be done somehow !?
[edit] I didn't read the ALDJ thread yet. It's rather long. But I'll give it a try now and look if there's such a solution described .....
