gah! ... i hope its not true. ableton should be getting out of bed with m-audio, not reaching for the scented oils.

guarantee it's going to suck. the project mix i/o is touted as being the next best thing to the digi 002 and it is next to impossible to get it to work with protools - constant lost connections, dropped connections, no connection at all. i'm sure any live controller will experience the same thing. either that or they'll figure out some way to make it jack up the cpu usage even more.

Sweet. Now there will be like 40-ish openings for the support team at Ableton.

its a sad state of affairs, to be working with maudio. seems like cash is more important then stability. all maudio can bring to the table is mass-marketing, as far as I can see. they promoted each other with maudio's firewire interface, the interface sucked and the ableton reaction was the corporate equivilant of shrugging one's shoulders and pointing to maudio's website.

and now they want to make a controller together ? no biggie, its not like they are going to be wasting much time researching it properly, just hire a few more phone-monkeys to read out the support script.

or hire me, i know it by heart.

ok, the first thing you need to do is powercycle the unit. that didn't work? turn your computer off and on again. that didn't work? reinstall the drivers. that didn't work? sorry, your problem is with ableton, m-audio only provides tech support for our own hardware, i suggest you call ableton's tech support line.

I wonder if the Abes know how much M-Audio is dragging them down? If so, I guess it's purely for financial reasons they maintain the partnership.

The mighty buck... err... euro... speaks loudly...

Actually, I look at this M-Audio/Ableton partnership as a good thing. M-Audio is basically stunting Ableton's growth, preventing Ableton from becoming a huge conglomerate and creating a Monopoly, in which all our money gets really small and printed in weird pastel colors, and we all turn into motionless pewter figurines; with our livelihoods determined by the mere role of two 6-sided dice.

Totally. :D Live rocks as is, tighten it up, add some sheen to the bling. I can do more with Live 5 than I have days left in my life to carry them out.

Agreed!

I've developed so many workarounds and a particular workflow in 5 that makes it work perfectly well for me. It's all second nature now, all the key and BCR, Faderfox and FCB1010 mappings, all the IAC shortcuts, and I can't really think of any improvements I'd like to see other than a speedier interface and the ability to warp tracks while keeping the original track's tempo.

ps.. I really do love fruity still.
i second love for fruity poops
But wait...you'll have to boot up in Boot Camp just to run FL, since the entire world is turning Mac.

No, then he would have said, "m-audio are toys like young boys."

No, then he would have said, "m-audio are toys like young boys."
Followed by, "Go in peace, my son."
