Anyone going to Mutek 2006 - Montreal

Post by Julian » Wed May 24, 2006 3:55 am

Anyone going to Mutek 2006 in Montreal? It looks like an interesting event. I just read one of the workshops entitled 'Advanced ABLETON LIVE Techniques', hmmm. Is this thing a thrown-together-party-thing or more of an organized event?

I didint know about the workshop, i soo would have loved to go to that, did anyone here attend it?

I did however see Richie and Recardo spin together, it was really quite impressive technically. I think Richie was using a combination of Ableton and Traktor because he was using a time code record for the whole set, to beatmatch with Ricardo who was using strictly vinyl.
Its a pitty because i would have really liked to see Richie attemp to beatmatch with Ableton.
I tried my best to have a look at what was runing on the two macbook pros but i could not get close enough, but i did see something else really interesting, its probably common knolege but hes using a Lemur now. He didint touch it much but he was deffenatly using it for his patented tempo/pitch shifts.

If you want to see some great pics of the event check out my buddys site Electronic Dance Music Montreal

Here's a money shot of the Lemur
