Overdub problems

Recently recorded audio from reason and was able to overdub effects using nobs n faders on my midi controller which was great but now every time i try to record effect in it just wipes the audio in the track and replaces it with nothing!! i have the overdub switch on. am i Missing something??

the overdub switch is for midi only.

if you want to record automation over an existing audio track, make sure the track record-enable button is OFF, and the global transport record button is ON.

what should happen is that as soon as you alter a value, it will begin recording at that value. any existing envelopes should not change until you tweak that envelope - from that point on it will re-write until you punch out.

alternately you could bounce the audio to a new track with all of your FX moves. but then there's no possibility of editing the automation
