Uh-huh... Now all that Bobby Podcaster needs to do is go out to Radio Shack and buy himself a optical lightpipe microphone.There are also optical audio input and outputs. The audio input is a welcome addition to the consumer line, mostly because budget users will no longer have to spend even extra money on bulky external devices to replicate the functionality. Apple has been pushing GarageBand for a while now, and with Apple's recent commitment to Podcasting, they couldn't afford to leave it out anymore.
The reveiwer sounds a bit shortsighted here. But then again, audio is weird, and most people just don't get it.

AKA - Fibre Optic Cable works [basically[/i] like this (AFAIK) - information is sent down an optical cable as light signals shining on/ off and is therefore digital. With conventional cables signal can diminish or become corrupted due to either the length of the cable or the material it is made from, but I believe these things don't affect an optical cable.erichkopp wrote:What exactly is an optical connction?
