Cool. :D

We should get an ableton user group sorted for the north west. London and NYC have got one, so we should too!!!

We could always hold it at different cities, say every month, would be really beneficial for a lot of people.

So, anyone intersted should PM me with there details and I'll get cracking on sorting it out. Of course anyone wanting to help out is more than welcome, or you can just turn up. Would be awesome to try and get some guest lecturers down. Any ideas? let me know.

peace

I used to promote Airtight at Sankey's with Ian Taylor, dunno if you ever went?
I'm mainly into breaks, tech house, that kinda stuff.
I never did make it down to that but I'd probs be more into the electro end of things than breaks (if I remember rightly what Airtight is about?)...

Me, I play loads of different things, disco, house, techno, electro etc. (couple of mixes done in Live up at fivetones.org).
Would be interesting to hook up and see what your doing. Maybe Friday at Simple or somewhere around the northern quarter?
Got loads of running around to do so might have to make that another time. We should defo meet up for a drink though.

It was a really good night. Not the biggest turnout I've seen but the people there liked the tunes we all played.

No technical probs at all either :) (using Live5.2 for more or less the first time too).

12" 1.33Ghz powerbook (768mb,80GB 5400 drive), faderfox lv1, maya 44 usb soundcard, uc17 (just as a midi interface).

What do you use Stealth1?

I use:

12" powerbook 1.33gHz + 1.25 Gb RAM

M-audio firewire audiophile

M-audio Trigger Finger

Evolution X-Session

What do you think of the faderfox? I've never used one before, but the controls, such as the push encoders and endless rotaries, are what I long for...

Similar setups...

I love the lv1 but it's not the perfect controller as the row of four knobs are shared with each channel. I'd wanted the lv2 to have endless knobs with led rings to indicate the position when you switch channels/tracks in live. It doesn't do that unfortunately.

Other than that though I'd definietly buy the lv1 again given the choice.

Next thing to sort is a decent audio interface, the maya44 is ok but could be better.

Yeah, my mate has the Maya. Its nice and portable, but have never used one on a large system, so wouldn't know about that. A lot of people use the firewire audiophile, and isn't too expensive. I've had mine for about 18 mnths and used it on large systems to good effect. Its solid too.

I suppose it depends what your requirements are. The EMU and MOTU interfaces are wicked, but they are more expensive. The Firebox is also good.

I hear lots of stories about the audiophile though but it's good to hear that it works for you.

Last night I noticed that the maya wasn't loud enough. The gain all the way up on the xone62 and all volumes correct on the laptop. Unless there was something I was missing on the xone.

I'm tempted by the Ultralite if I could get it at US prices! :)
