Hard Drive Noise from PowerBook G4 Soundcard.

Post by CraigD » Sat Nov 22, 2003 9:25 pm

I'm using a PowerBook G4 and streaming audio via a Western Digital 120 Gig Firewire hard drive. I run the audio out on my laptop to a Mackie 1604VLZ Pro.

Recentlly I've been picking up the hard drive noise in my speakers. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I need to pick up a small audio interface to run without noise?

I've been looking into some M-Audio pieces, any suggestions?

I'd rather use the internal PowerBook sound card, the less to carry and hook up, the better.

Thanks!

Hi there,
i have an answer
it's very simple
the powerbook audio out is shit!!!
It's not shielded, that's why you can hear you firewire harddisk running!!!
If you want good sound without parasites, with better highs and more defined bass you gotta use and external soundcard (it can also be a pccard)... it all depends on the money you can spend!!! if you have the budget i would say go for RME products, best there is, i had digidesign and motu before none of them reach the hammerfall!!!!
