Input / Channel level in dB ?

Post by GentleG » Fri May 26, 2006 10:16 pm

Hi All,

I'm new to live 5.2
(I know my way around cubase / reason)

I'm starting to get used to the interface
and the whole warping thing is very impressive indeed.

One thing I can't find in the funny manual is:
- level of a channel / input in dB.

So I know how much more I can raise the input volume before clipping

Cheers

there are no db reference markings, a real downside for some of us.
using your ears is great, but not ideal when you want a technical db input level.
all you can do for now is just turn it up until it clips and then bring it down a few db.....
maybe use a comp/limiter before the input to prevent spikes...

i've done quite a bit of multi-tracking using live, really good results actually,
but it did take some tweaking to get levels right....
it's really nice to launch record with scenes so you can can separate tunes easily if multi-tracking live shows...a good trade-off i suppose...
hopefully we'll see some markers in version 6, at least -12 and -6 would be nice,
even a miniscule line next to the meter....
i guess it's time to hit the wishlist!
