Hi,
I've got a bunch of tracks in development, maybe too many, so I've done some one minute edits that I'll be posting on myspace. These will change every 7/10 days. Any feedback very much appreciated.

Most of my stuff tends to be quite drawn out with a lot of repitition so one minute should give you an okay idea.
Everything was created in Ableton with the exception of the very occasional drum loop.

Seems like you suffer from the same problem I do. Get something going that will only be enough for atleast 1/3 of a complete track.

On the Flowers track, I would highly recommend letting those guitar notes sustain longer.

To make your tracks longer, you will need to add different drum patterns and also try soloing an instrument with an effect on it then bringing in the rest of track with an added instrument to the mix. I'll go ahead and say it again, you need more than one pattern for your drums and instruments. If any of them are recorded audio, then cut it up and rearrange for pattern changes.

Hope my suggestions aren't too obvious, but I'm finding thats what I need to do with my 1 min. tracks. Like its right in your face and you can't even see it.

Thanks for the feedback. All things I'm aware of but good to hear someone else say them. It's quite easy to set up an okay sounding loop or riff, developing it without getting lost is the hard part.
The "guitar" is the Simpler Winterpole setting, Midi Random Generator set to "Chaos", Delay and Saturator. Going to try it with differant bar lengths and Clips of silence with random follow instructions.

IMO (when your first starting out) making tons of ideas is the worst thing you can do and will slow your rate of becoming better at your craft big time. < (Unless your sound designing) Better to stay on 1 -2 songs and go back and fourth until you begin to learn song arrangement and production skills in full. It takes patients..... alot of patients. Bored with your song? Walk away from it and come back to it in an hour or so. Better to finish a painting (no matter how bad it looks when your first learning) than to have a 100 canvases strewn around your room all unfinished. Its the fastest way to learn quick. Finish your paintings/songs no matter how frustrated/bored you become. Be vigilant with your work, your stuff sounds fine.

I hear what you're saying. A lot of this stuff is from learning how to use Live and liking the sounds. Now I need to narrow down which path I should follow deeper. Four more tracks to be posted later today.

i also have tens of unfinished tracks, with grooves i like, but can't seem to make a kick ass track out of it.
there are too many features, effects, undo's, samples, soft synths, ... to choose from. makes it even more difficult. it's not that easy. darn.
i like using live, but i would love to make some songs with other people. together you can do more than by yourself...
