By the way sales dude, what's your job like? I imagine you to be one of those dudes off the 40 year old virgin

 Yeah... not too far off.

Mr. Bossman took me aside yesterday and told me they are seriously considering moving me to the pro audio catalog writing dept! Glad I could make ya salivate! Looks like all this Ableton forum jibber-jabber I've been doing might pay off.
good for you!

yeah, it's one of the reasons I got a myspace page for the blog!

Ifigured I spend so much time writing here I obviously enjoy doing it so I might start actually keeping it to myself and filling out a blog!

also thought about doing a journalism course or something....
I'm psyched and crossing my fingers that they make it happen --- I may never have to design a custom sound system for a large Korean church in Jersey that wants to host weekly kareoke and bingo nights ever again! I may have sold my last jug of fog juice! Hope springs eternal!

I hear you about feeling the need to blog - but don't keep it to your self. Blogging is all about giving it away. I think of the Ableton forum as a sort of collective blog between you, me, Hambone, Adonis, Benshik, freakin' everyone here. It's a springboard for ideas - musically and otherwise - and I mean otherwise! I start thinking about things here and writing about them here, and then the seeds are planted. You can take them where ever you want.

Your blog already has over 4000 entries Forge!

Funny, this fall I'm planning on taking some media classes. I was thinking Flash and Journalism.

I gave up my mpc4000.

I now use live 5 w/ s6000, and battery, trigger finger and a few soft synths.

my beats come about more quicly now, with more variations, and still soundabout the same.

although i have been contemplating, a new mpc purchase. I know it is not needed.

btw, I usually make hip hop tracks

I just got an MPC-2500 so I could easily capture samples of my external gear (i have a lot of tweaky analogue stuff) and use that in conjuntion with Live when performing/DJing.

I know it seems redundant, but having the MPC along for the ride does a few important things:

1) Provides a stable MIDI clock tempo
2) provides a backup of music and sounds in case the laptop crashes or needs to be rebooted.
3) provides midi assignable pads to manipulate live with as well (I use a DJM-800 as my main mixer/midi controller, but need a few extra assignable elements to make it all work more smoothly - less mouse/keyboard control needed that way) ... and...
4) fun, tactile surface to play along with my music/dj set.

It provides a lot of benefit, IMO. To me, its not just one or the other, its how they complement each other that matters to me.

Plus, I was under the impression that I could bring my gear with me to perform, and that's just too risky. So, instead, just load it up into the MPC and have one box hold it all and keep the valuable equipment at home and still be super portable.

How's the workflow on the S6000? I can get one for cheap that's just sitting around collecting dust in a studio with maxed out ram and every option installed, the removeable frontpanel and 128 note polyphony makes it realy a tempting purchase for offloading some stuff I use VSTis for, I just burned out on samplers in the past because the workflow was allways a bitch.

imo best sampler ever. easy to use. straith forward. the screen sits right by my trigger finger, or right on top of my keystation pro.

I use battery more, latley.

I have my s6000 for all my vinym samples.
i have an s5000 loaded with my chopped up drum kits, and all the hollowsun sounds.
I use impulse, and operator, and plugsound modules to supplement, sounds.

I use recycle to chop up my vinyl samples, and export to akai akp format.

I haven't made any of my own programs yet, but it seems easy enough.

my two killer akai samplers, have extended the life of my aging g4.

I have used all of the major software sampler, and perfer the hardware, maybe I am just old school.

hi
I'm making music from time to time with my "old" mpc 3000. Do someone know if there are any differences in soundquality between the mpc 3000 sound and the sound from the newer mpc-models ?

Newbie Question about my MPC2000

Post by ableton lover » Fri Sep 08, 2006 10:25 pm

Hi I just got an MPC2000 2nd hand for a great price. It has 8 outs already install in it. But can someone please tell me whats the difference from the 2000XL and the 3000(which I think I might rather have, but discontinued).

I'm not talking about looks, and if the pads are on one side or the other. I need to know about the technical features and what am I missing in my 2000.

wellp, the xl has a much nicer os.

and track page (or whatever its called, the screen where you turn tracks on and off with the pads) is accesable by a button instead of a few keystrokes.

there isn't really that much more than the regular 2000, but just the track page button was enough for me.
