Notice for all using M-Audio 410 FW who are having problems

Post by Attack mode » Thu May 25, 2006 7:31 pm

I couldn't get this thing to work properly. I spent a week trouble shooting with tech support from all sides, and was just about to reformat to fix what I thought was the problem (virtual IRQ in XP)

The problem was... the 410 is a serious pile of crap.

I exchanged it today for a MOTU Ultra Lite.... This thing is stunning, and surprise, no more audio issues.

So if you keep having drop outs and glitching, overruns on cpu, latency problems et al; it's the wonderful 410 and all it problems saying hello. When I returned it to the store, the girl at the counter recognized me, and knew immediately what I was there to do without even asking.

I'm glad someone out there is working hard to give us equipment that is rock steady and ready for the road. Thanks to MOTU for all their efforts. I can now hit the road knowing that I’m covered.

Yep -- took mine back and got a PreSonus Firebox. Haven't had any "sudden dropouts" or any other major problems since I dumped that pile of crap M-Audio 410.

My 410 works fine ok on my laptop but is having problems(CPU spikes, etc) on my desktop. I tried another firewire cable, didn't fix the problem, will upgrade the firewire adapter to a VIA one, I think could be that, or all this IRC issues, anyone with any other ideas, greatly appreciated...
