Re: Does anyone have time to give an example.
For exaxmple: Say I had a good beat I wanted to use and I wanted to make three different beats from the one like a verse 1 and an alt verse1 a chorus and a breakdown. alot of times I noticed if I am working with loops from say a song file from a loop cd there will be one drum loop one bass loop etc. I want to take that drum loop and again make several out of it . Does that make sense? I hope I got my idea across properly if not let me know and I will try again.DJ VAKIS wrote:What do you want to know?garygenn69 wrote:thank to every one who gave responses. can anyone give an actual example of using ABELTON LIVE FOR SAMPLE EDITING. in Arrange view, you can edit parts with Command-E... at whatever point you want and re-arrange those different parts into whatever order you want.garygenn69 wrote:Could you explain a little more Please . I would really appreciate itam wrote:+ warp markersdjsynchro wrote:Ableton Live
+ consolidate
= awesome sample editor.
Thanks for thaking thetime to respond to my question
you can get the same type of results with sample offset, and with warp-markers... if you want to delve into that way of working... but read the manual on that one and explore it yourself.
after you've manipulated, you can (but don't have to) consolidate the freshly edited parts into a new audio file. Highlight and Command-J.
hope that helps.

Ok, here's a quick example.
First, load your basic loop into a clip. Now, manually warp correctly the section from where you're rearranging the beats. In the picture you'll see a warped bar.

Turn on the Loop button and make the loop marker be over the beat you want to be your 1st beat. Up and down arrows will make the loop marker move forward or backwards (if you have 1 quarter marked, it will move by quarters, same with any other subdivision). Cmd/Ctrl + up or down arrow will double or halve the size of the loop respectively.

In the clips grid, click and drag the clip and whle dragging, press Tab. With this you can move clips from Session to Arrangement view and back. Now, put it in the 1st beat and you'll notice you'll be repositioning the beat(s) you selected with the loop marker.

Press Tab again, select another beat with the loop marker, move the clip between views again and place it where you want. This way, you can chop and rearrange the beats in a loop at will.
When you have a new loop you like, select it all and go to the Edit Menu > Consolidate (Cmd/Ctrl + J). Now it's a single audio file instead of the individual beats.

If you want, you can drag it back to Session view with drag + Tab.
Easy as that. Enjoy.
