if this is a stupid question, have pity on a poor soul, but...
I am running Logic and Live 4.0 on my G4 powerbook. I'm thinking I want more power and want to purchase a G5 desktop. However, I don't want to purchase another Logic and Ableton program to run on the G5. Is it possible to run my programs on my powerbook on the G5 to utilize the blazing fast power of the G5 processer? Is there a way to link computers? Am I even wasting my time considering the possibility?
anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated, thanks
G4+G5 = G9?

No you can't. But Live lets you have two installs for this very reason, one on your desktop and one on your laptop.
No idea about Logic though. But you could always transfer you license to your desktop I guess.
Another idea would be to buy one of the new Macbooks. They are faster than a G5 and (I think?) cheaper too.
Edit: Well, Logic might actually allow you to distribute the processing on your two machines. But I'm not clear on the details.

Whoa you scuuuured me there for a minute - I thought you wanted me to factor that using a quadratic formula and I was going to tell you that can't be factored
or maybe it can - I'm new to all this reading, writing and equating
I just want to program a fat kick under a pumping tribal loop
throw down a epic / almost cheesy club style bass line and really funky epic almost cheesy lead
slide a hot ride cymbal in there heavily compressed with a late attack and long release so it sounds like one continuous sizzle <--- the key is to bounce it down to audio so it starts dead on the one - when your beat kicks back in with the ride it adds that extra BAM!!!! I'm here
sequence that shit out with some serious edits, random noises and a hooky break - OMG I hope 4:15 comes sooner than do
