Syncing Problem. Can Someone Please Help Me?

Post by Trevor » Thu Jun 15, 2006 2:00 am

Hello,

I like to record raw tracks on a standalone DAW. I want to then edit them in Ableton. I imported the tracks using midi sync between my DAW and my computer. That went fine, but I don't understand how to get the Ableton's metronome to play my song at the origional tempo!

The tune has a tempo of 82 BPM but when I set the Ableton metronome to 82 it reduces the original tempo. I tried turning off the warp function in the clip view -- didn't work.

Since I synced the tracks coming over, the individual tracks are lined up with themselves. I am hoping to use the tempo markers to edit some of the clips....anyway, like that. I've read everything I can find in the manual.

What do I do to make Ableton believe I'm at 82 -- the original tempo of my recording?

Thanks,

T

I must say, Trevor, this is interesting. You say that you did import the information into the computer at the precise tempo you then set Ableton to? Well, it doesn't sound like you recorded directly into live, so I wouldn't suppose you'd then just need to listen to the metronome from live along with whatever you're playin in; and I am therefore thinking it is probably a case of your simply needing to listen to the file, which can be saved as a wav and located on the left side of of the screen in a folder you will have saved it to, before then dragging it into your project. What I would suggest in this case is to check the tempo of the wav before the drop into Live, and you should be able to "determine" what it's going to sound like that way.

And I just love making time for meeting new people, chatting, reading, writing, working, playing, and most of all . . . music.

when you import audio into ableton..ableton attaches a tempo to the file..then when you change the master tempo of ableton, the clip is also adjusted

in the clip's view, you will see where to enter the tempo for the clip..be sure to hit the littel save putton..then every time you import that clip it will play at the proper temo.
