the xy pad on the padKontrol really is a lot of fun. Much more fun than some extra knobs / sliders.

i was backing up the trigger finger for a while, but within my 8th month of using it it took a dump on me. it still works, but i have to slam my fingers on it.....i dont mind that, its just my fingers go through pain after playing with it. the pads on pdkontrol are softer, but wait until july when the akai mpd 24 comes out. those are the pads that the claim are from the 2500.the 2500 has some of the softest pads that wont hurt your fingers during long use. yea, note to self ....stay away from m audio........

Padkontrols pads burn the Trigger Finger pads, XY thingie is fun too, knobs arent endless though. The one place where the trigger finger kills the padKontrol is with the knobs/sliders. If Korg put even a few more knobs on the padkontrol it would be a rediculously easy decision, but then there wouldnt be any fun.
Im also eagerly awaiting the MPD24 to quickly replace my trigger finger. havent tried it out but the 2500 pads are great.

I think that even after the MPD comes out the Trigger Finger will still be the only one that translates pressure into gradual CC changes so you can use the pads as knobs, too. The padKontrol definitely can't do it. If this feature matters to you, you're still stuck with M-Audio.

The padKontrol sends hi/lo CC values in a press-release kinda way. Trigger Finger sends sustained and changing CC values in response to changes in pressure. That's a huge difference.
The only padKontrol MIDI bonus I've found so far is scrolling thru radio buttons using the roll pad. Assigning 3 pads to the 3 sync time radio buttons on the Filter Delay & messing around with rolls gets some cool results, but I imagine Max & PD people could get a lot more creative than that.

I'm doing some researches on three USB Pad models below:

Korg PadKontrol
Akai MPD24
M-Audio Trigger Finger

And I got some questions and conclusion after I read some relative posts:

1. Both PadKontrol & Trigger Finger have 16 presets(scenes). I know you can have 16 x 4 Pad Banks = 64 Pads setting on MPD24. But how many presets does MPD24 has?

2. Both MPD24 & Trigger Finger have "Pressure Sensitive" Function. How does this function work?

3. X/Y Field, Roll & Flam pad modes on padKontrol are far cooler than other 2 stuffs.
