Is anyone using this device?
Does anyone know how to trigger scenes with it?
Going out to make a perchase. Any help would be appreciated
thanks

Re: Ground control pro
Just set it to output midi notes. I believe that part of it is pretty easy...guitarguruguy35 wrote:Is anyone using this device?

ah yes, cool unit, i've seen that unit up close, used by a guitar player to control
rack-gear and fx loops...
my humble opinion is that the behringer fcb 1010 is a bit more useful,
simply because it also has two expression pedals...
it's great to control fx parameters with those, and once you get the hang of programming it, it's really versatile...
i also prefer the staggered switches, a bit easier to avoid hitting the wrong
one...although there are fewer....
the g.c. is built much more sturdy, although i haven't had any problems with the behringer....

yeah, but the Ground control has 2 ports for pedals...that seems fine enough to me, am i the only one?
the main selling point for the ground control, for me, is the fact that it is 11 x 17 as opposed to the 27 x 8 3/4 of the 1010
but the staggered switch point is something i took note of too. but i figuremore buttons is worth it.

I'm with DK, I think the 1010 is more useful overall with the exp pedals. You might look into what midi commands can be sent with the ground control. The 1010 can send an impressive amount of info with one pedal press--ie 5 program change command, two fixed cc commands, note on/off and two exp pedal. I seem to recall someone saying the gc can't send as much. Plus, it costs over twice as much. Also, looking at it, I think it really only has ten useable pedals, not 12 as someone mention. It looks nicer, is smaller, and probably more sturdy, but to be honest, the 1010 is built like a tank, and mine has lasted 4 years no probs.Surreal wrote:yeah, but the Ground control has 2 ports for pedals...that seems fine enough to me, am i the only one?

Its awesome!
Ive used it now for a while and I think its great!
I use a midi guitar and have the first set of numbers or as I like to refer to them as levels (level 1 00-09 level 2 10-19 etc)
record enable tracks with oporator, atmosphere etc
2nd level triggers recording into slots (and play back) with 19 being delete
3rd level on triggers loops
2 things Ive run into......... questions that still need answering
1) How to record a loop and have it play right away rather than waiting for the next pass. I dont think this is possible
2) Using bhomes midi translator to trigger key functions (since the pedal doesnt send midi data) I've run out of letters in the alphabet.

1--huh? It definitely works fine to record a loop and have it play back the second you are done recording it. Here's how I (and most others doing live looping) do it. Using session view, route your guitar as the input on a track and arm it for recording. Using the midi map mode, select a clip slot, and assign a midi command to it--I prefer using fixed midi cc commands. Hit play in live and monitor the metronome with headphones. Have global quantize set to "bar". Hit your assigned midi pedal anytime during the measure before you want to start recording your loop. It will start recording on the "1" of the next measure. Hit the midi pedal again during the last measure of your loop--it will stop recording on the "1" and instantly playback the loop with absolutely no break in sound--completely seemless looping. Here's some settings in preference that might help:guitarguruguy35 wrote: 2 things Ive run into......... questions that still need answering

Clip update rate: 1/32
launch mode: Trigger
loop/warp: auto
quantization: global
2) Live 5 can take numbers as key assignments (as well a shift-numbers, ie symbols), plus most versions of Live also can take both lowercase and uppercase letters. That equals 72 possible qwerty characters you can keymap.

wow, smaller than i remember! those switches must be tightly packed!Surreal wrote:yeah, but the Ground control has 2 ports for pedals...that seems fine enough to me, am i the only one?

add those pedals, it's a bit bigger...either way, neither is going in a backpack....
both grea pieces tho, no doubt...
excellent! how much did it run you$?guitarguruguy35 wrote:Its awesome!

Quandry!
Thank You!
I know what ive been doing now.
I have my setting to toggle not trigger so I can shut off a loop and start it again.
Correct me if i am wrong but you cant do this with trigger (unless you can set certain tracks to toggle and others to trigger which im pretty sure you cant).
So how do you stop a loop without deleting it.
I should point out that when I perform I dont touch the laptop at all

enter live's midi map mode. in session view at the bottom of the clip grid is a midi-mappable stop button on each track. If you assign a midi pedal or whatever to this, you can stop any clip on that track. The stop is quantized by the global quantize setting, so it will stop the clip on the "1" of the measure following when you hit the pedal. Alternatively, I prefer to map the monitor button on tracks and just turn the track off that way--then the loop keeps looping and you can bring it back in on time just with the monitor button.guitarguruguy35 wrote: So how do you stop a loop without deleting it.

hey ggg35--where did you play in MT--that is my home state! Did you hit up the whitefish/glacier area at all, or more southeast area, or missoula?
