Ok, so im itching to get a full copy of live... ive been using live lite a lot. If i wait much longer im going to explode.
If i buy it now, and then live 6 comes out in August, am i...
(a) stoopid
(b) going to have to pay a huge upgrade price
(c) a monkey

How much is a live upgrade anyway? And do you think they would be so mean as to charge someone who had so recently bought live 5 the same upgrade pricea as somone who bought it a year ago?

I find that I get inspired with each new release... and since it's been a while... I'm in a bit of a rut! But now, the Abes are prolly too drunk... watching football on da tube... I'm really worried... prolly be September before they sober up

Jesso, I reckon you will get the upgrade for cheaper considering you bought it so close to the new release. Either way its worth it, dont you think?

it is a certainty that the new vesion will be announced by summer namm whcih starts July 14 - it will PROBABLY be going into beta by then so it might even be announced before then but you will DEFINITELY get your free upgrade if you buy when it is announced

I think you'll be okay if you buy now

I just did a search on the forum and the best I could find was for Live 4, but it might give an idea of usual time frame

Live 4 for Mac OS 9, OS X and Windows will be available at music stores
worldwide and from www.ableton.com by the end of July, 2004. Live 4’s

Live (Live 1, 2 or 3) to Live 4 will cost 119 EUR/US$ (download) or 149

and people that make crappy music with 5, will make crap with 6 too.
Clearly you haven't read the press release from Ableton about the DeCrapifier plugin that comes with Live 6. It's a bizarre bastardization of Saturator and Beat Repeat that Henke came up with during a bad dream in which he was being chased by wolves while running through the Alaska Yukon stark naked. When he woke up, the coding madness began. Three days, 18 hot pockets, and a lot of bad home-delivered chinese food later, voila - DeCrapifier! Add it to any crap track as either an insert or in the master chain, and your tracks sound like Squarepusher and Aphex Twin got married and had a very bad looking baby with strange facial hair.
