Mexico vs. Argentina = Best match so far.

Mexico dominated the whole game and nullified Riquelme, Crespo, Saviola, Messi and that ugly motherfucker whose name I can't recall. Crespo's goal came by chance and Borguetti's bad luck. Maxi created a beautiful goal from nothing and won the game for Argentina.

If I had to sum it up, I'd call it a game between 11 mexicans giving it all in the field and 12 argentinians, one playing with a red card and another disguised as the ref.

I remembered you watching the game our Abletone homeboy, screaming MEEEEEEJJJJJJJJIIIIIIIICOOOOOO when they scored, Mexico really played with heart ( y cojones) Felicidades por mejor partido hasta hoy. Pity, I was all ready to go downtown to celebrate Mexicos victory.
Thanks to the Champinoship Germany turned into great party place.

As an Englishman I am loving the referee on the Portugal vs Nederlands game.

at this rate - whoever wins will only have 6 players to choose from

15 yellow cards so far!

------

woooo!
he sent Deco off!

I'm sorry to the portugese, but I didn't want Deco playing aganst us, we are too shit to face that kind of playmaker.

yeah, i rather brazil face england than portugal. haha england doesn't look good at all but hey they are still winning

even though a portugal vs brazil game with brazil's ex coach, coaching portugal... that'd be epic.

I just caught the tail end of the Eng-Ecu - one of the commentators on the TV station running it here - I think hhe was Italian (so no national bias) was pointing out that Holland has never beaten England - so a holland win would have been beneficial to England

and he was also saying if England gets behind Rooney and supports him properly they could win every match from here on

I dont know, I'm no great expert but every time I've seen England in something like this, they always seem to get through like they are now - not so much with confidence, more they just manage - like in the Ecuador game the goal was close - it could easily have gone the other way because that one goal was the only one and it could easily have not gone in

I kind of get the feeling (in my humble view) as if their parts are greater than the whole - like on paper if you put all of those players together they should do wonders, but somehow they cant seem to get it together to be as confident as a team as they should be

so usually they make it this far and then just dont go any further

but I really hope they do - it would do amazing things to the morale of the whole country to win it

But I'd be a little disappointed to be on the other side of the world because nobody would give a crap here!

i'll take that wink as a sign that you are joking. if portugal didn't get all those players kicked off, and some hurt there would be no way in hell england would win. now however they have a chance.

as SOON as england goes down a goal by any team they will lose.

simple as that.

Chuck Norris tried to stop a Beckham shot, once.

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/5706084
World Cup card records passed
BERLIN (AP) - More red cards have been shown at this World Cup than at any other, with 12 games remaining.

Teams with red cards:
Croatia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Portugal, Serbia-Montenegro, United States 2
Angola, Australia, Italy, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Poland, Sweden, Togo, Trinidad & Tobago, Tunisia, Ukraine 1

Sunday's match between Portugal and the Netherlands, in which 16 yellow cards and four reds were shown, brought the total of red cards in Germany 2006 to 23 in 52 matches. The four red cards were the most in any single World Cup match.

The previous record was 22 red cards in all 64 matches in the 1998 World Cup in France.

A total of 291 yellow cards have been shown in Germany, more than the previous record of 272 for the entire competition in Japan and South Korea four years ago.
and then there's this article:http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/5705994
FIFA: Red and yellow cards warranted
BERLIN (AP) - FIFA is pleased players and spectators have noticed World Cup referees producing plenty of yellow cards for sliding tackles and reds for elbowing.

It means the message is getting through...
Seems wrong to me, fewer cards, more futbol.

Unfortunately, seems like refs level dropped drastically ever since the knockout round started.

Having the ref show 3 yellow cards to a player in the Australia vs Croatia was awful, but it only added a dash of hilarity to an already fun game to watch, but when a ref lets someone that throws a kick like the one C. Ronaldo got go with a yellow card and from then on looses control of the game, you know something is seriously wrong.

An England vs Argentina with a ref doing that would surely end with dead people.

Just found that I can get live score updates here:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=World+Cup+2006

The firewall allows us to Google search, we just cannot click on anything that we find in our search unless it's pro audio related.

The posting of BBC game highlights is still warmly encouraged ( :) Angstrom)!
