Triggering a command when cuing an event??

Post by fongaboo » Tue Jun 27, 2006 2:34 pm

Is there a way in Live to send a command (Program Change, note or a CC msg) at the point that you *cue* an scene?

ie. you would click on a scene in the right-most column to cue it to trigger on the next interval, but it would send this signal at the moment you clicked.. then the scene would kick in at the next interval.

the idea here would be to do a program change or some 'preparatory' event *before* the scene is activated.

If a slot in session is learned to a MIDI note, that slot gives also MIDI feedback:

- the assigned note number with velocity 126 once the slot received a note on.
- the assigned note number with velocity 127 once the clip actually plays.
- a note with velocity 1 each time a looping clip jumps back
- a note off / note on with veloctiy 0 if the clip stops.

maybe this is usefull for you

OK I rethought it and I *think* I know what you are saying now, but if you could just confirm that I am thinking what you're saying..

Is the idea here that I use an empty event that I somehow set to trigger immediately instead of the next interval? Then I map the button for the next scene to some midi command. Then in the first event I set it to send a PGM change or whatever event I want to happen pre-emptively *and* the note that is mapped to the scene trigger?

The only part I wouldn't know how to do is the first part where I'd have to make the event able to trigger immediately instead of on interval. How would I do that?

Keep global Quantize where you want it, but change the clip quantize options.
