Analyze audio bug

Post by Toufas » Sat Apr 15, 2006 4:30 pm

i decided to analyze all my mp3s while i sleep
i noticed that my root drive (with the local settings folder) was growing big...
inside the Ableton\Live Recordings\Decoding Cache there were 1500 mp3s decoded to wav
any reason why this was happening?

seems like that's exactly what's supposed to happen. pre-analyzing files is a feature which enables you to have Live do the maths beforehand, so that a file can be immediately played when you drop it into a set. for a compressed audio file, that includes decompressing it.

it sure does. it decodes them to .wav files in the decoding cache.

save yourself the headache. encode to wav and ditch the mp3s if you can. the only reason live can play mp3s is because it reencodes to wav and stores it in the cache. so now you have TWO files of each song instead of one.
