clips with pickups

Post by dh187 » Tue Dec 09, 2003 8:25 am

Does anyone know how to specify that a clip begins with a pickup. I am trying to dump a number of complex song from Pro Tools to Live. They have multiple sections many of which start on a pickup. I am performing on guitar with live and want to dedicate as little time as possible to tweaking the computer or midi controller. :)

you can set an offset value for a clip, if that's what you're asking about...
so the clip will start however much before the 1st beat.

just move the single arrow below the loop indicators on the clip view.

sorry if this is not what you're after

the only solution i've found is to leave silence before the pickup and trigger the sample early. For instance, if you have a 2-beat pickup, leave the first two beats silent, then trigger the sample a full measure early so the pickup comes in right. Another solution would be to leave no silence before the pickup, but change the Clip's Quantization to 1/2...that way you would trigger the sample when you want the pickup to start. Please post if you figure out a better solution...
