You can edit by hand pretty quickly.
- Start with Preset 1 and change every knob's channel # to 1 or 16 or whatever.
- Then assign CC#s to every control from 1 to whatever. It really helps to map it out so you can check your work. (I used an Excel spreadsheet, I'm a dork like that)
- Copy Preset 1 to Preset 2 <- Copying whole presets saves tons of time.
- Change the CC#s in preset 2 to wherever preset 1 left off.
- etc.

Then in Live it doesn't take too long to MIDI learn all the controls and set that as your default template.

I kept the top of my BCR the same controls, so I only ever set the channel and cc#s in preset 1 and they were carried over to every preset. Stuff like BPM, Quantise, A/B Fader, Solo Level, Master Level, scene scroll/launch, track on/off and clip launch.

I've got 4 days off, I should post my .als and BCR settings, it could at least be a start for people.

yes please! i have not quite gotten the hang of setting this thing up yet. i usually just set up everything in ableton with my uc33, so this is a bit more in-depth than i am used to. perhaps seeing some templates and such might jog my brain...

I just received one today... If you'd post some files up dkf that would be very cool.

i program knob #1 to cc #1 and knob 2 to cc #2 etc. on midi chanel 1
and button # 1 to cc#1 ect on midi ch 2

then when i copy the preset to the next i only need to change midi chanel

keeps it easy to edit as well!!

also

for the top 8 knobs, if you assign the push button encoders to the same cc ans the knobs, you can use them to punch in and out..works great for volumes and sends .. especially since you can set the punch in to whatever value you want!

but damn after 2 years i busted a knob off

oh my friggin god i feel dumb.

i can assign stuff thru ableton, but i have read the manual backwards and forewards and just feel mighty clueless about using the BCR2000 itself to assign stuff.

*hangs head*

fuuuck.

*edit* ok so i figured out how to use edit mode, but i am still not quite getting it to do what i want. grrrr...

got the buttons to toggle clips off and on, but i have to hit the button twice to toggle off, and the lights are not going along with this process.

gonna be a looong weekend of experimenting...

Try setting both the high and low limits of the control change to 127. When you tap it twice it's only responding to 127 being sent, so it ignores 0 being sent.

As for the light lighting up the correct way, hit edit on the BCR then the button and then mess with the BCR encoders to the far right. I don't have it memorised how they work but they BCR can do different behaviors.

Correct

127 for both states

and it's the 6th encoder to set Toggle to ON

i have parameter and val 1 set at 127, but it does not allow me to set val 2 at all when in note mode. ??? toggle is on.

i actually used the bcfredit program to get it to work at all. edit mode was just making me crazy...

anything amiss with my settings?

dont use note mode

use cc mode

ok, follow this step by step and you'll get it working:
1) turn your clip Launch mode to Toggle
2) Get into edit mode on the BCR on the button you wish to configure
3) 1st knob > CC
4) Val1 = 127
5) Val2 = 127
6) Toggle = ON
7) Make sure the button light is off, make sure the clip is stopped

Now hit button, light goes on, clip starts
Hit again, light goes off, clip stops

Does anyone know a similar trick for mute / solo???

I've tried before but with no luck .. just want the light to follow mute and solo, so I have a quick visual reference when playing out.

Thanks

i would assume the same concept would hold true for mute/solo??

edit: yup. same idea works just fine. :)
