Guess I'll start individual track threads rather than the one unwieldy thread I was using.

Not sure I would say this is jazzy, but a nice chill tune none the less. A bit tooo mellow for me personally, but only barely

Nice. I just love the atmospherics. The crackly stuff happening around the audible edges is nice too. The Rhodes-y thing is great. And just the right amount of off-notes ot be unsettling. Works for me!

about 15 seconds in and i'm loving this. thios shit is beautiful man. plenty of subtle little things going on in the back, just the way i like it. this never gets dull.
really amazing piece of work and it's not even halfway in the song.
anymore tunes like this i could check out?
and any info on how this tune came to be that you'd like to share? (production and inspiration wise)

Check my sig for more tracks, virtually all down tempo. Some other recent ones with a bit of a similar feel might be:
Toadstone
Essence Of
Tetrabiblos
Production wise, this track uses:
Lounge Lizard for the EP, doubled with one being run through PSP84.
String Studio for the bass, with a little Sonalksis compression.
String Studio for the main weird instrument in the back. It's actually what I originally played for the bass part, much less sparse than the final, pitched it up an octave and ran it through Grain Delay and PSP608.
For the drums I took a loop from Stylus RMX and made 7 different loops out of it. Lots of enveloping in Live, I think a touch of Beat Repeat. Other than that the main effect was Lucifer.
I didn't have a proper Jazzy trumpet sample, so I actually used one from Garritan Personal Orchestra. Doubled it down an octave and ran the pitch shifted one through Tassman's Crumb effect.
EQ is by Eqium on all the tracks. I normally run Ozone on the master, and in fact I've never done this before but I ran the whole thing through PSP Vintage Warmer, just on light tape compression.
