recommendations?

Hi people..

just thought id pop in and say hi as i have a few questions about live if anyone can and is willing to help and point me in the right direction..

ok, down to the question.

currently im running live v2 on a centrino 1.2 laptop with 512mb ddr2, 60gb 5400 hdd, but im looking at the possiblility of getting a 1.6 powerbook, 1gb ram, 80gb 7200 hdd and upgrading to live 5. Also i was looking at a firewire hdd- most possibly a lacie big disks, but ive not really looked at the options yet. my current sound card is a emu 1616 and all is well with it but i really like the look and feature set of the m-audio 1814 so i'll no doubt change to this at the same time.

i also have a novation xstation 25 and a korg pad kontrol which so far are excelent and i cant find anything better, but im always open to other idea's

basically with what i currently have and what im looking at, am i making the right decision. if not, anyone point me towards something better? any help would be appreciated

Greets

You are meaning a 1.6 Macbook, right? No sane person buys a Powerbook these days, unless it is used and dirt cheap.

I think Live 5 will run fine on your current computer. Download the demo and try. There were some problems with the earliest Centrinos but you still have more raw horsepower than the fastest Powerbook and people are running Live 5 on those.

The EMU 1616 is a pretty decent soundcard, so I can't really see the reason to upgrade unless you want to get something really high grade like an Apogee or the EMU 1616M. Many new computers don't support the old PCMCI card standard though so you might be forced to upgrade anyway.
