Live memory usage

Post by john » Wed Dec 17, 2003 1:42 am

Why is live slowing down, other software like samplitude2496 doesn't do it,
why does PF usage continually increase to around 360mB (starts at 99mB), the CPU starts spiking after increase, and soon it will freeze. :?

I have 512 DDR ram, 1800XP, dedicated OS drive for Live and drive for recordings, tweaked with latest drivers! and No CPU temp problems.

Please help or I'll buy Cubase!

What exactly do you mean by "slowing down"

What do you mean by "PF usage"?

Roddi
please state the following information with *every* problem you have:
1. Exact version of Live
2. System: Processor, RAM
3. Operating System
4. Audio hardware
Thank You

memory usage

Hi

thanks for reply,
I'm using the Live Delta version, which came with the Audiophile 2496 soundcard as package.
Using Win XP home Edition, only used for recording.
512 DDR ram, Athlon 1800XP, Asus A7N266-VM motherboard
Seperate Harddrives for OS and recording.

"slowing down"
When recording a single track 16 or 24 bit with no effects it records fine until the track gets longer. When the counter near the record button gets to roughly 380, the audio starts cutting out when monitoring, the meter counter stops and starts, program becomes unresponsive, for example when pushing the stop recording button or when trying to close program (because it's stuffing up). When played back later the recording has small cut out "glitches" from where it had started to freeze when recording. (It is able to playback the recording eventually once the recording is ended, program still open)

If the program is completely shut down and restarted it seems OK at first and does the same thing all over again.

"PF usage"
I opened the windows task manager under performance and watched the "page file usage" and CPU usage, the problems above correlated with the PF usage being around 320 to 400 mB (started at 99mB, CPU 5% average) and the CPU spiking more and more as it got slower, eventually it was staying close to 100% on CPU when freezing.

Thankyou for your help.
Matt
