LIVE RANDOMLY DISAPPEARS????

Hello,

I am running legal versions of live and when left idle running reason as a rewire slave Live randomly crashes. I thought maybe it was a bug in 5.03, but I went back to 5.01 and it does the same thing....

I am running Live on:

dual core p4 3.0ghz
2 gb ram
m audio delta 2496 sound card
256 mb pci express video card

HELP!

Live 5.03 did this to me for the first time the other day. It did it twice in a row upon opening Bome's MIDI translator. Rebooted and then everything worked fine. Bit worrying though. Wouldn't have been much fun at a gig. At least if the audio goes a bit glitchy I can mix in a cd. Sudden silence isn't a good look though.

I'm having the same problem with random crashes...sometimes when the program is not even being used, when it's just sitting. That's not good for a gig, which I have next week! Any suggestions are welcome, I have submitted crash reports...

Hmm. Still quite worrying. Disappeared on me again last night. Luckily it's still not happened duting a gig.

It appears to happens when I am opening another program. Last night I was fiddling with Bome's MIDI Translator and the Jazzmutant Jazzeditor when it disappeared. In fact, MIDI Translotor has been open for every crash. Could this be a common theme?

Happens to me all the time.. but it's usually when i go down to the kitchen to get a coffee and come back to the studio to see live gone.

I've stopped the coffee business and started on beers and it never disappears anymore

Hasnt happened since i went back to 5.01 and turned off hybranate and the screensaver option on my comp.

I am using 5.2 and it also just poofs out after my aquarium screensaver returns to window. Real depressing

that's why you should never have power saving or screensavers on your music computer.

As soon as you stop using a screen saver or certain ones, the problem will disappear. For example on Windows, the stupid windows logo screen saver will work but the stupid pipe maze will not.

I think not using a screensaver (the Aquarium one has the problem too) ist one option - but another (and imho better) would be to fix live - since it should´nt be such a big deal to write software which can handle the OS going to dreamland every once in a while.

Btw. - this still occurs in Live 5.2..

Again btw. - i´d be interested in the technical side of this - what´s the explanation here, how is screensaver and live connected?
