Live 6?

Post by Clinical » Sun Jul 09, 2006 8:07 am

Anyone got any idea when it's released? Heard a rumour of next Friday? Is it true?

Thanks,
Macbook Pro, Motu Traveler, BCF2000, Xiosynth, MicroKorg and more.....

not a rumor, summer namm is friday....so this next weekend at the latest.

What's in it? Nobody knows.......except that originally the abe's mentioned dual processor support (before 5.2 was released)

Other than that, I can only guess. It was just last summer that we got the AWSOME live5.........

I'm going to throw some guesses here......add please!

Panning laws (-3/-6 db....etc)
and i'll gag over it........video support (why gag? every app throws this in eventually........)
Improved midi (groove/beat matching, drum mapping?)
"render to" or simular when right clicking/control clicking.....etc
axiom support has already been added (see new beta) so more improvments on this. I'm wondering if maybe icontrol support is commin'..........(mac only)
a new "pay per" synth of some kind
ACC support............that should be there no matter what.
maybe a multiband compressor?
support for apogee ensamble maybe?
MO' integration with PROTOOLS mpowered......couldn't tell ya what though...
Maybe a new editor for audio....although the "use" link gives options for third party already....
crossfading curves
tuner?
multiple monitor support (real, that is) and metering screenset?
appleloop support?

add yo' own ideas

:D :D

AAC, you mean? :)

Word.
support for apogee ensamble maybe?
MO' integration with PROTOOLS mpowered......couldn't tell ya what though...
I have a feeling this won't be happening.
Maybe a new editor for audio....although the "use" link gives options for third party already....
I bet we'll see a new midi editor instead. Also, I bet you that 6 will have a more intelligent way of doing on-the-fly midi and audio looping.

The amazing thing is that no matter how close Live 6 gets all the rumors are completely divergent, all the Live 6 threads turn into feature whishlists.

This is worse than christmas and prom night with twin hookers combined.

I have blueballs for Live 6, what the hell are they doing behind that curtain :!: :?: :!: :?:

Dual core, fuck yeah!! 8)

what I really expect is this :

a new pay synth of some kind, or possibly an update to operator
some new midi editing features
mayyyybe we'll see a multiband compressor, but maybe not. I do expect to see at least one new effect but I can't think of what it might be.
I very honostly expect to see something in the "beat" family as in the beatrepeat family. at some point I remember them mentioning the possibility of creating more of those. I remember one of those dudes put it on some random thread.

I could go on but I think those are the most likely features in my mind. hopefully they'll add more boxes in impulse and turn simpler into a multi sampler but thats a bit of dreaming and not as likely(but a little likely still)

I don't think audio overdubbing is gonna happen honostly... but I do think they might eventually make a plugin that you can use as a looper overdubber. somehow I think thats more likely. I could be wrong though.

I want internal lfo's but I don't know if that'll happen. I also want to be able to turn plugin devices on and off via session view. I think that one may happen.

what i really expect is another beat repeat kind of effect like "beat filter" or something similar.

What I would like to see:-

1. Dual Core support

2. REAL Freeze Function (option to Freeze and unload plugin from memory without trying to reload the original plugin when you open the frozen session on another machine).

3. Expanded version of simpler allowing keymapping and velocity layers

4. Expanded version of Impulse with more slots (enough to simulate a real kit at least) and velocity layers.

The latter 2 would allow me to give up my addiction to NI Krap. 2. would allow me to do stuff with my UA plugins and transfer the frozen session to my Laptop for live use.

5. Maybe some kind of Scratching plugin, to keep the DJ guys happy?

7. Refinement of Novation Automap support (scroll devices from SL without using mouse?)

6. More program optimisation, lets keep the bloat factor down guys.

Isn't that the same wish in way?
If Ableton would add an expanded version of simpler, wouldn't that render an expanded impulse useless? Or the current one for that matter...

If I could be granted one wish...

Warping/autowarping while keeping the original track's tempo intact. How difficult can it be?
