Novation x-station 25

Iv been playing around with my new toy which is making some great sounds but I havnt been able to link it up to my laptop yet to record with it. It seems to be acknowledged ok. When I hit the keys I can see with live that it knows Im pressing the keys but when I record with it, I can see the wave but theres no sound from it. Any suggestions anyone?

You've either turned the "input/output" button all the way to the right or the left.

If you've cranked it over to "input" you only hear the synth you play, if you've turned to output you only hear what's going through abletong.

so to record the synth what do i do?

i think i dont understand it as well as i thought. i have it set so midi in = x station. midi out = x station. when i record, it records the notes i play but not the actual sound. am i right in thinking that the sound can go through the usb cable into the laptop or is that jibberish?

im lost.

Yes both the midi & audio will go into Live to be recorded via the USB with the X Station.
